Frank and Dottie Hung Fresh White Sheets on the Line. Bean Saw a Racetrack.
A sunny breeze is blowing through the backyard, perfect for drying laundry the old-fashioned way. A long clothesline stretches across the yard, heavy with towels and crisp white sheets, held up by wooden clothespins. Dottie, in a green cardigan and glasses, smooths a sheet into place, while Frank, in a brown plaid shirt, pins up the next corner. Below them, Bean is having the time of his life. The black pug is trotting at full speed between the billowing sheets, tongue out and curly tail up, a blur of happy energy. A laundry basket, a green watering can, a coiled hose, and a stray tennis ball add to the cheerful mess.
Laundry day can be a playground for dogs, especially with soft fabric moving in the wind. Short bursts of play like this are good for a pug's body and mind, and running around a familiar yard is much easier on them than long, hot walks. Still, a few things are worth keeping in mind. Laundry detergents and pods can be harmful if chewed or swallowed, so keep them stored up high. Clothespins and small items like socks are tempting chew toys that can cause blockages, so it is best to pick up anything that drops. And on warm days, pugs need shade and water nearby since they overheat quickly.
There may be a few paw prints on the sheets by the end of the day, but Frank and Dottie do not seem to mind. Fresh air, clean laundry, and a happy dog make for a pretty great afternoon.
