Grandma Set Out Two Lawn Chairs for the Sunset. Frost Picked His Favorite First.
The sky over the garden is turning peach and gold, and the evening has slowed to a crawl. Grandma Edie leans close in her green cardigan, smiling sideways at her companion. Frost sits upright on a blue folding lawn chair, as dignified as a guest of honor, his silver coat glowing in the last light and his eyes fixed on something across the yard. A metal watering can, pots of lavender, and a weathered fence fill the background, along with a few trees silhouetted against the clouds.
Evenings outdoors can be lovely for cats, but dusk is also when many wild animals become active. If you bring a cat outside, a harness and leash or a secure enclosed patio helps keep them close and safe from traffic, wildlife, and getting lost. Norwegian Forest Cats are usually confident and curious, and while their thick coat handles cool air well, it's still wise to supervise and head in before full dark. Fresh water and a familiar blanket or chair can help a cat feel settled. A quick check for burrs, ticks, or tangles afterward is a good habit too.
It's easy to imagine these two out here most nights, watching the light fade without needing to say a word. Edie has her view, Frost has his chair, and the garden hums quietly around them.
Some sunsets are best watched with a good friend sitting right beside you, especially one with a magnificent ruff.
