Grandma Dipped Her Feet in the Lake at Dusk. Willow Had Opinions About the Water.
Dusk has settled over the lake, and the water has turned a deep, glassy blue. Grandma Ruth sits on the edge of the old wooden dock with her jeans rolled up and her bare feet dipped in the cool water, smiling down at the companion beside her. Willow sits tucked close to her hip, paws neatly together, gazing up with those bright blue eyes. A lantern glows on the cabin behind them, slippers and a tote bag are left on the boards, and lights from other docks twinkle along the far shore.
Ragdolls are known for following their favorite people from room to room, a habit that has earned them a reputation as dog-like cats. That loyalty can extend outdoors, but water's edge settings call for extra caution. Cats can swim if they must, yet most dislike it, and a slippery dock is easy to slide off. If a cat joins you near a lake or pool, keep her on a harness or within arm's reach, and never leave her unattended. Evening outings also bring mosquitoes and other insects, so talk to your vet about appropriate parasite protection if your cat spends time outside. A calm, quiet setting like this one is ideal for a short, supervised visit.
Willow seems perfectly happy to keep her paws dry and leave the wading to Ruth. Some evenings are just meant for sitting close and watching the water.
