Frank and Dot Were Making Pancakes. Misha Had Her Own Plan for Breakfast.
Saturday breakfast is a two-person job in this cozy kitchen. Frank and Dot, both bundled in matching grey cable-knit sweaters, lean over a gas stove with spatulas in hand, nudging two golden pancakes around a black skillet. Dot is smiling behind her round glasses, and Frank looks quietly proud of his flipping form. A pat of butter waits in a little bowl on the counter, a striped towel hangs from the oven door, and soft window light spills across the wooden cabinets. Down by Frank's knee, Misha the Russian Blue sits tall and perfectly still, green eyes fixed on the pan as if supervising every move.
That polite, watchful posture suits the breed. Russian Blues are known for being gentle, observant cats that tend to bond closely with their household and enjoy a predictable routine, which often includes knowing exactly when breakfast happens. They are usually not the loud, demanding type; many simply park themselves nearby and wait. It is still worth keeping people food to a minimum. Pancakes, butter, and syrup offer nothing a cat needs, and rich, fatty foods can upset a feline stomach. A small cat treat or a bit of their regular food at the same time as your meal can satisfy that wish to be included. Also keep an eye on curious paws near a hot stove, and if you have questions about your cat's diet, talk to your vet.
Somehow Frank and Dot make it look easy, cooking side by side without bumping elbows. Misha, for her part, seems confident the next pancake might just fall her way.
