Dottie Was Clearing the Driveway Until Marigold Found the Snow Pile

AI imagecalico catsnowdriveway

Dusk is settling over a snowy driveway and a porch light glows against the house as Dottie pushes a wide shovel through a heap of snow. Her silver braid sways over a blue denim shirt and she looks down at the cat with a smile. Marigold the calico is right in the middle of the drift, white paws pawing at the flakes, nose dusted with powder and eyes bright. Bare branches, a snowy fence and a small porch complete the wintry scene.

Cats and snow don't always mix, but some are fascinated by the stuff. Short visits are usually fine, but a cat's paws and belly can get cold quickly, and ice-melting products on driveways can irritate paws or upset stomachs if licked off. Wipe her feet with a damp cloth when she comes inside, and keep an eye on her for signs of getting too cold, like shivering or lifting her paws. Cats should never be left outdoors for long in freezing weather. If she seems unwell afterward, a call to your vet is a good idea. Shoveling carefully and taking breaks is wise for people too.

Marigold has clearly decided that shoveling is a team sport. She digs, sniffs and pounces while Dottie works. The driveway may take twice as long to clear, but nobody looks bothered. Winter evenings do not get much friendlier than this.
