The Wood Stove Was Warm and the Russian Blue Gave In. He Wasn't the Only One.
Firewood is stacked neatly beside a black cast iron stove, and the warmth has done its work. A blue-grey Russian Blue lies stretched across a round jute rug, eyes closed and chin pressed to the floor in total surrender to sleep. Four yellow chicks have joined the nap, each one curled against his plush coat, beaks tucked and eyes shut. A pair of wool socks, a rolled knit blanket, and a little wooden toy sit nearby, the kind of details that make a room feel lived in and loved on a cold evening.
Russian Blues are known for their dense, silvery-blue double coat, bright green eyes, and gentle, somewhat reserved personalities. They often bond closely with their families while staying a little shy around strangers, and many prefer calm routines over chaos. Since cats love heat sources, homes with wood stoves or fireplaces should take a few precautions. A sturdy screen or hearth gate keeps curious paws and tails away from hot surfaces, and ashes should be cleaned up once cooled so they do not get tracked around or licked off fur. A warm bed placed at a safe distance gives a cat the cozy spot it wants without the risk.
There is a special kind of quiet that settles over a room when everyone in it is asleep. By the look of it, nobody here plans to move until the fire burns low.
