The Golden Retriever Held Perfectly Still. A Bunny Fell Asleep on Him.
A golden retriever has stretched out on the living room floor, his chin tilted and his soft eyes half closed, and in the middle of his thick golden fur lies Clover. The little brown rabbit is curled into a tight round shape with her eyes shut and her ears folded flat, completely lost in a nap. Around them lies the gentle mess of a lived-in room: gray blankets, a potted plant, a rope toy and a pair of slippers.
Golden Retrievers have a reputation for patience and a soft touch, which makes them good companions for many households. Their feathery double coats keep them warm and can hold a lot of heat, so many Goldens enjoy cool floors and plenty of water. Regular brushing helps manage shedding. Letting a small pet rest on a dog's belly can look adorable, but a sudden stretch or roll could hurt a rabbit, so it is best to supervise closely and keep naps short. If you are not sure about mixing pets, your vet can give you some good guidelines.
What is striking is the dog's stillness. He is hardly breathing, as though aware that he is carrying something precious. His gaze moves lazily toward the camera, not a muscle moved. Clover, meanwhile, has the deep sleep of someone who has found the softest bed in the house. It is easy to guess that the room will stay quiet until one of them decides it is over.
