A Rottweiler Puppy Marches Ahead With a Pony Following Close Behind
The Rottweiler puppy is in front, mouth open in a happy grin, ears flopping and tail waving, trotting down a gravel path like he has somewhere very important to be. A few steps behind him, a shaggy brown pony follows with his head low and a calm, slightly puzzled look. Behind them, an old wooden shed, a green watering can, rubber boots and a row of potted plants line the path. The light is soft and even, as if it were early evening.
Rottweilers are strong, intelligent working dogs that were once used to drive cattle and pull carts. They are loyal and confident, and puppies need early, consistent training and lots of social experiences to grow into well-mannered adults. Because they're sturdy and powerful, teaching good habits such as walking politely on a leash is especially important. Ponies like to follow a leader, and herd animals will often trail along behind someone who seems to know the way. Walks are great exercise for both, but a puppy and a pony should always have a person nearby to guide them.
Whoever is leading, it clearly doesn't matter. The puppy trots, the pony trails and both look pleased with the plan. It's a happy little parade down a gravel path, and it is hard not to smile. Nobody is rushing, nobody is worried about the destination, and the whole yard seems to be enjoying the walk right along with them.
