The Giant Jack-o'-Lantern Looked Normal Until It Grew a Furry Head
Surprise. Rising out of the top of an enormous carved jack-o'-lantern, a black and tan Rottweiler pokes its big head through the opening, tongue just peeking out and warm brown eyes looking up with a gentle, slightly sheepish expression. The pumpkin's jagged triangle eyes and toothy grin are carved below the dog's chin, making it look like the jack-o'-lantern has a very furry brain. Around the scene, the entryway is pleasantly cluttered with boots, a plaid blanket, stacks of mail, small pumpkins, a coat on a hook and leaves tracked in from outside.
Giant pumpkins can make for silly, memorable photos, but some quick safety thoughts help. Freshly carved pumpkins have sharp edges that can scratch, and the inside is slippery and wet, so a dog should never be left inside one or pushed into a tight space. Never use a pumpkin with a lit candle near a pet. Rottweilers are strong, intelligent dogs that thrive on training and enjoy being part of family fun, but they still need patient handling when introduced to unusual props. Keep photo sessions short and reward calm behavior with praise or a dog-safe treat.
Every Halloween has a few unforgettable photos, and this one is sure to make the family album. Who knew a jack-o'-lantern could look this happy, or this ready for a belly rub once it climbs back out?
