Odin Climbed Into the Stocking and Looked Over the Whole Room
A wise silver face with green eyes looks out of the top of a big red knit stocking with a white fluffy cuff. The stocking hangs from a doorframe, and the cat's tufted ears and thick ruff of fur make the whole thing look like a very fancy collar. Behind the cat, a living room holds a couch with a blanket, a woven basket, a rug, and a pair of gray slippers waiting by the hall.
Long-haired breeds like the Norwegian Forest Cat were developed in cold climates, and their thick double coats keep them warm. They need regular brushing, especially during seasonal shedding, to prevent mats. These cats are known for being strong, climbing-loving, and good-natured. A stocking is a snug hiding place, but a hanging one should always be used with care, since a heavy cat could pull it down and get hurt. Never leave a cat in something it cannot easily get out of, and keep any dangling parts out of reach.
This stocking stuffer, whom we will call Odin, is a most dignified one. He looks at the room with great calm, as if he expects the holiday to come to him. A silver cat in a red stocking is the kind of thing Santa would stop to admire. We suspect no stocking has ever been filled with more charm.
