Boo, Said the World's Least Spooky Ghost From the Living Room Couch
Boo, says the world's least spooky ghost. A ruddy Abyssinian sits on a cozy green couch wearing a tiny white sheet draped over his head and shoulders, with two cut-out eye holes that ended up somewhere around his forehead. His tall ears poke through the top, and his own amber eyes peer out below the fabric with a patient, slightly puzzled expression. Behind him, the coffee table holds a mug, a small pumpkin, scattered autumn leaves, colored markers, and a pair of glasses, while a basket of laundry waits in the corner.
Some cats tolerate costumes, but many find them stressful, so comfort should always come first. A good pet costume should not cover the eyes, ears, nose, or mouth, should not restrict movement or breathing, and should have no small dangling pieces that can be chewed off and swallowed. Try it on for just a minute or two at a time, rewarding with treats, and watch for signs of stress like flattened ears, a twitching tail, freezing, hiding, or trying to back out of the outfit. Never leave a pet unattended in costume. For many cats, a festive collar or a simple bandana is a perfectly good compromise.
This gentle ghost seems willing to haunt the couch for a quick photo. After that, he has surely earned a treat and the right to go back to being a regular cat.
