A Beagle Puppy in an Apron Declared Himself Head Chef
The head chef has arrived, and he is about knee-high. A tricolor Beagle puppy stands in a sunny kitchen wearing a tiny cream apron tied around his chest, his long ears hanging and his dark eyes watching the stove as if checking the seasoning. A pan of roasted vegetables steams behind him, a cutting board holds herbs and sliced peppers and a bowl of cranberry sauce waits on the counter.
Beagles have one of the best noses in the dog world, bred originally for tracking rabbits, and a kitchen full of smells is simply thrilling to them. That also makes them food-driven, so a Beagle puppy can be a persistent beggar and an expert at finding leftovers. Keep trash bins closed and counters clear, and store anything with onions, garlic, grapes or sweets high up. Aprons and costumes should be kept loose and brief. Beagles are friendly, curious and social, and they tend to love company. Scent games, such as hiding treats around the room, give a Beagle's nose a happy job that does not involve the turkey.
The cooking is going well and the supervisor is on duty. If the apron is anything to go by, this little chef takes his role very seriously, and everyone in the kitchen is under his gentle, nose-first inspection, from the stove to the very last dish.
