A Pug Climbed Into the Gift Box and Took Over the Bow
A fawn Pug with a black mask and big, round eyes peers out of an open cardboard box that has a large red bow on top. Brown paper wraps around her, the corner of the box is torn, and the living room beyond is a happy mess of blankets, a mug, pinecones, and ornaments. A small Christmas tree twinkles by the window in the background.
Pugs are small, sturdy dogs known for their wrinkled faces, curled tails, and clown-like personalities. They are loving, playful, and love being around people. Because of their short noses, pugs can overheat easily and may snore, snort, or wheeze, so they should avoid too much exercise in warm weather and need a vet's guidance about weight and health.
Dogs, like cats, are drawn to boxes. A box provides a sense of shelter and can make an excellent hiding spot, and the crinkly paper makes it even more fun. If your dog gets into a gift box, check that there is no tape, ribbon, or staples around, since those can cause problems if chewed or swallowed. Remove any wrapping when the fun is over.
This little package is clearly the best gift of the day. The bow stays in place, the paper stays rustled, and the Pug looks out at the world with the satisfaction of someone who found the perfect hiding place.
