A Little Gray Bat Sat Perfectly Still on the Porch Steps
A pair of small black bat wings is fastened to a blue-gray kitten's shoulders, and she doesn't seem to know what to make of them. She sits on the porch steps with her bright green eyes locked on the viewer, her ears upright and her whole body perfectly still. Behind her, a decorated porch glows with a hanging lantern, corn stalks, and a jack-o'-lantern, and crisp leaves cover the wooden boards.
Russian Blues are known for their silvery blue coats and vivid green eyes, and they tend to be gentle, quiet, and a little shy with strangers. A kitten like this may prefer a calm Halloween at home to a noisy one. If you try wings or other costume pieces, choose lightweight ones that attach with soft, loose elastic, and remove them if your cat freezes or tries to run. A cat that is frozen in place is usually stressed rather than relaxed.
There is something funny about a tiny kitten who looks fully prepared to take flight and has absolutely no plans to leave the step. The wings give her a mysterious look that suits her fur color perfectly. For the right cat, a night on the porch can be a quiet adventure, especially with a warm light overhead and the whole neighborhood arriving in costume for a look at the smallest bat in town.
