The Reindeer on the Porch Had Whiskers and a Very Calm Face
The antlers are a little crooked, and the cat wearing them has accepted that with total dignity. A fluffy orange longhair sits on a snowy porch looking straight at the camera, brown felt antlers perched between his ears, a ruff of ginger fur fluffing out below his chin. The boards beneath him are dusted white, a railing stretches along one side and a bare yard fades into the gray distance. His expression is steady, and maybe a little patient.
Dressing a cat in a costume is something that only suits some cats. Many tolerate a light headband for a minute or two, while others will freeze, flatten their ears or try to wriggle out. Watch for signs of stress, keep the item loose enough that it does not block vision or breathing, and take it off as soon as the picture is done. Never leave a costume on an unsupervised pet. Treats and soft words help, and if your cat says no, that is a perfectly good answer.
This reindeer in training looks calm, and that deserves a gold star. He may be thinking about the snow, or the door, or the treat that surely follows. Either way, the antlers suit his orange coat so well that it is hard to imagine a better holiday outfit. The sleigh will have to wait, as he seems quite comfortable on the porch.
