A Red Maine Coon Was Mesmerized by the Tree Lights
A red Maine Coon sits near the tree, her thick coat the color of cinnamon and her tail flowing out along the floor behind her. Her ears have tall tufts, her face is lifted and her eyes follow the lights. The tree is covered in golden bulbs, and the living room behind her is warm and soft, with a sofa, cushions, a green throw and a mug on the table. A rug in blue and cream lies beneath her paws.
Maine Coons are one of the largest domestic cat breeds, with a long shaggy coat, tufted ears and a bushy tail. They are known for being gentle, friendly and sociable, and often follow their people around the house. Their size means they appreciate a sturdy cat tree and plenty of space. The long coat needs regular brushing to avoid mats, particularly on the belly and behind the ears. Keep lights and cords tucked away so that curious cats cannot chew them, and ask your vet about weight and joint care for a large breed.
A big cat under a lit tree is a very calming sight. This one is in no hurry, and she seems to be enjoying the glow as much as anyone. The lights twinkle and she watches them like a slow movie. It is hard not to feel a little more peaceful just looking at her.
