A Little Dinosaur With a Maltese Face Went for a Sidewalk Stroll
The dinosaur is five inches taller than a loaf of bread, and it has a very sweet face. A small white Maltese sits on the sidewalk wearing a plush green costume with a hood topped with little spikes, a row of spines down the back, and tiny arms that stick out at the sides. His dark eyes look to the side, his black nose twitches, and his fluffy white face pokes out of the hood. Fallen leaves line the cracks in the pavement behind him, and an orange pumpkin sits near a doorstep. Let's call him Rex, the mildest dinosaur in town.
Maltese dogs may be small, but they often have the confidence of much bigger ones. They are friendly, playful, and happy to be carried around or follow you from room to room. They are also a good match for apartment living, as long as they get daily walks and plenty of company. Their silky coats need regular brushing, and since they're small and light, they can get chilly easily, so a costume that doubles as a sweater can be handy on a cool night.
A dinosaur outfit with a hood is a good example of what to check. Make sure the hood doesn't cover his eyes or ears, the body part isn't too tight on his chest, and he can walk, sit, and lift a leg without trouble. Spikes made of soft fabric are fine, but anything hard or glued on can be chewed off. Walk your dog on a harness rather than a collar if the costume has a hood, so nothing pulls on his neck, and bring him home if he seems uneasy.
Rex strolls along happily, a very tiny dinosaur with a very big heart. Nobody on the block is scared of him at all.
