A Cavalier Spaniel Dressed as a Dinosaur Stood Bravely on the Sidewalk
Wide dark eyes peer out from under a green dinosaur hood with little spikes along the top, and long chestnut ears hang down on either side. The Cavalier stands on the sidewalk at dusk, his white chest and paws showing through the opening of the costume, with a row of spikes running down his back. Behind him, a house with a porch light glows warmly, a jack-o'-lantern sits on the steps, and bushes and fallen leaves line the lawn. Let's call him Rory, short for little roar. The costume is a little big, and he looks very serious about it.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are gentle, sweet-natured dogs, known for their long silky ears and love of company. They are usually good with children and other pets, and they often like to be close to their family. They tend to be food-driven and can gain weight easily, so regular walks and portion control help. The breed can be prone to heart issues, so regular vet checkups are especially important.
Costumes with hoods and ears need careful fitting for a spaniel, because those long, heavy ears can get tucked and squeezed under a hood. Make sure the ears sit comfortably and aren't pulled or pinched, and that the hood doesn't block his eyes or slide forward. Walk him with a harness instead of a collar so there's no pressure on his neck, and keep the evening walk short. If he walks stiffly or seems stressed, take the costume off. A treat now and then makes the outfit more fun.
Rory stands his ground on the sidewalk, a small dinosaur with a big heart. Nobody on the street will be afraid, only charmed.
