The Calico Wore the Reindeer Antlers Out on the Snowy Porch
Two brown antlers sit on the head of a calico cat who looks at the camera as though she is posing for a card. Her patches of orange, black, and white stand out against the snow-dusted porch boards, and her golden-green eyes are wide and serious. A white railing and a bare tree behind her complete a winter scene. Her whiskers stand out against the snow, and a few fallen leaves lie scattered across the boards beside her paws.
Calico cats are known for their three-color coats, and nearly all of them are female because of how the coat color genes work. Every calico has her own personality, though many owners describe them as spirited and independent. They are sometimes said to have an attitude, and this one certainly looks confident.
Cold porches are fine for brief visits, but cats get chilly quickly. Paws can get wet and cold, and some outdoor hazards, like antifreeze, are very dangerous to pets. Keep a close eye on any cat outside in winter and bring her in as soon as she seems cold. An indoor cat does best with a warm window.
Call her Dasher, if you like. The antlers are slightly crooked, which only adds to her charm, and she wears them with great dignity. Together with the snow and the quiet porch, the antlers give her the air of a very small reindeer on a very important mission.
