Jingle Put Up With the Santa Hat Beside a Crackling Fire
A red Santa hat perched slightly crooked on his head, the Border Collie looks straight at the camera with a patient, slightly questioning expression. Behind him, a fire crackles in a brick fireplace, and the mantel is dressed in greenery, pinecones, and dried orange slices. A basket of plush toys, a plaid throw, and a stack of slippers on the floor complete a cozy living room scene.
Border Collies are keen watchers, and they read people's faces closely, which is why this dog looks so attentive. They are bright and sensitive and often do best with a job to do. A fireplace evening is a good time for calm games like find the toy, quiet training, or a gentle brushing session. If you use a fireplace, a sturdy screen is smart, and a dog should never be left alone close to open flames.
Dressing up a dog is only fun if he's comfortable. A lightweight hat should be quick to put on and take off, and it must not slip over his eyes or tighten under his chin. Reward him for wearing it for a few seconds and then remove it, so the experience stays positive. If he shakes it off, that's his way of saying he's done.
We'll call him Jingle. He's tolerating the hat with grace, and he'll be expecting a treat for his patience.
