A Silver Scottish Fold Moved Into the Biggest Red Stocking
A silver tabby Scottish Fold has squeezed into a giant red stocking, and only her round face shows above the thick white cuff. Her small folded ears are tucked against her head, her green eyes look off to the side, and the stocking holds her like a snug woolly cocoon. Behind her are a plaid blanket on the couch, a green plant on a side table, and a pair of shoes on the wood floor. The light is soft and warm, and the whole room has a leisurely, nothing-to-do feeling.
Snug spaces are one of a cat's favorite things. A tight space feels safe, holds body warmth, and gives a cat a private spot from which to watch the world. That is why boxes, baskets, and stockings are so popular. Scottish Folds are gentle, easygoing cats who tend to settle into a good spot and stay there. If your cat uses a stocking as a bed, be sure it is clean and sturdy, with no loose threads or small trims that could be pulled off. Your vet can recommend a regular brushing routine and checkups suitable for the breed.
She looks very pleased to have been stuffed with the best present of all, herself. Not every stocking is filled with candy; some are filled with cat. Her ears twitch once, and then she settles back in.
