A Brindle Puppy Made Friends With the Snowman in the Yard
A brindle puppy sits in the snow with her ears relaxed and her eyes looking straight ahead, and right next to her stands a small snowman with a carrot nose, pebble eyes, and a scarf of evergreen branches. Behind them is the back of a house with a basket of firewood, a plaid blanket on a post, and some garden tools leaning against the wall. The ground is a patchwork of white and green.
Rescue puppies are often a delightful mix of breeds, so it can be hard to predict adult size and temperament. A coat with brindle stripes is common in many mixes, and it can look striking in the snow. Whenever a puppy plays in the cold, watch for shivering, lifted paws, or reluctance to walk, which suggest it is time to head in. Wipe her paws and belly afterward, and give her a warm, dry spot to rest. Ask your vet about vaccination timing before taking a puppy to places where other dogs have been.
The snowman is her new friend, and she sits next to him like a loyal companion. The two of them make a sweet pair, one cold and quiet, the other warm and curious. Once the sun goes down, she will head inside, and the snowman will keep watch over the yard. Under the winter sky, with her stripes and her calm face, she looks like a puppy who has found a place to belong.
