A Big-Eared Devon Rex Sits in the Middle of the Pumpkin Patch
The ears come first: a grey Devon Rex sits among a crowd of big orange pumpkins, and her huge, wide-set ears are practically catching the whole sky. Her pale green eyes look straight ahead with sharp curiosity, her short, wavy coat looks like soft suede, and her slim body is tucked neatly between the gourds. Dried vines and golden leaves curl around her.
Behind her, a tidy house with a white door and a wooden fence frames the yard, and a blue bucket sits among the vines. Corn stalks lean against the siding. We'll call her Pixie, a name she has earned with that elfin face. She appears to be taking inventory of her pumpkins.
Devon Rex cats have a distinctive look, with big ears, wide eyes, and a short, curly coat. They are known for being playful, social, and endlessly curious, and many love to perch on shoulders or climb to high places. Their fine coat gives less insulation than most cats, so they like to be warm and may seek out sunny windows or laps. If your cat enjoys a pumpkin patch photo, keep it brief, make sure it's free of pesticides, and avoid letting her nibble on stems or vines, which can upset a stomach. Remove the little thorns and sharp bits before cats go exploring. Talk to your vet about skin care, since their sensitive coat can need a bit of attention.
Pixie surveys her orange kingdom, ears up and eyes wide, perfectly at home in the patch.
