The Persian Walked Off With a Glove and Got Caught Out in the Snow

AI imagepersian catcaught in the actsnow

Snow is falling softly around a cream-colored Persian whose big round eyes are wide with alarm. A grey knitted glove dangles from her mouth, fingers hanging down like a tiny trophy. Behind her, a wooden porch glows under a warm lantern and a snowy fence post leans in the dusk. It looks like she has just made her escape and has realized that somebody is watching.

Persians are known for their long, luxurious coats and sweet, quiet personalities. They tend to be gentle and calm, but even a mellow cat can be a collector. Many cats carry off small soft things, such as gloves, socks, and toys, because the item smells like their person and feels like prey that they can carry home. In cold weather, it is important to remember that long-haired cats can collect snow and ice clumps on their fur, so dry her off with a towel after a romp outside. A Persian's flat face also means she can get tired quickly in extreme temperatures, so short outings are best. If the glove is chewed, check that she has not swallowed any of the yarn, and talk to your vet if you are concerned.

Somewhere inside, someone is wondering where the left glove went. The answer is out here, looking extremely guilty and very, very fluffy. She will probably be forgiven by the time the kettle boils.
