The Homework Notebook Didn't Survive, and the Lab Knows It
The yellow Lab sits in a lamp-lit living room with his ears pulled back and his head turned slightly to the side, wearing a very sheepish expression. Beside him on the table, a notebook lies chewed and torn, with its cover curling and its pages shredded into soft flakes. A couch, a lamp, and a blanket complete the cozy room, and the quiet evening seems to have been interrupted by a creative project.
Labradors are known for loving to carry and chew things, since they were bred to retrieve for hunters, and a notebook within reach is a natural target. Young Labs especially need a lot of chewing outlets, so provide sturdy rubber toys and keep paper and homework off the table's edge. A little paper in the stomach is often harmless, but a lot can cause problems, so call your vet if you are concerned. Plenty of exercise keeps a Lab content.
He looks like a student explaining a very difficult excuse, and the argument seems to be losing steam. The notebook may not be readable anymore, but his loyalty is certainly intact. A gentle scratch behind the ears might help him feel better, and the homework can be done again tomorrow with a firmer lid on the bookbag. His tail thumps the rug once, in the quiet hope of a fresh start.
