Winston the Bulldog Found the Wrapping Paper First
Brown and white wrapping paper has been pulled out across the floor in crumpled waves, and Winston the brindle Bulldog has parked himself right in the middle of it. His wrinkled face is turned away toward the left, and his droopy jowls give him a sulky look. The roll lies on the floor beside him, half empty, and scraps of paper cling to his white chest. A laundry basket and a pile of shoes fill the corner of the room, and a soft light falls across the scene.
Bulldogs are known for being gentle, loyal and a little stubborn. They tend to be laid-back and affectionate with their families, though bursts of silliness are common. Their short noses and flat faces mean they can have trouble breathing in heat or during hard exercise, so keep playtime easy and watch for overheating, and talk to your vet about any concerns. Paper is exciting to shred, but swallowing large amounts can cause stomach trouble, and ribbons, tape and tags from gifts can be even riskier. Keep wrapping supplies well away from a curious dog, and offer a sturdy chew toy instead. If your dog swallows paper, tape or ribbon and seems uncomfortable, call your vet. Most Bulldogs are just as happy to sit in the mess as to make it.
Winston looks sure that no one can prove anything. Wrapping day just got a little longer, and a little funnier.
