The Pug Duke Wore His Gold Buttons With a Very Worried Face
The duke has arrived, and his velvet coat is magnificent. This fawn Pug has a black mask, deep forehead wrinkles, and dark, round eyes that look slightly worried. His coat is a rich navy blue velvet with large gold buttons, gold trim at the collar, and a white ruffled cravat, and the cracks in the old paint add a comfortably ancient feel. Pale columns and drapery fade behind him in the soft light. His forehead wrinkles seem to ask a question, and the whole picture has the comfy, heirloom charm of an ancestor in a country house.
Pugs are cheerful, clownish companions that thrive on being near their people. Their short noses make them sensitive to heat and humidity, so avoid hard exercise on warm days and keep them in cool spaces. The wrinkles on their faces should be wiped clean and dried gently to prevent irritation. Pugs also love food and gain weight easily, so measured meals and healthy treats help them stay comfortable. Their curled tail and big eyes make them delightful, but those prominent eyes can be injured easily, so talk to your vet if you ever notice squinting or redness.
His Grace is very serious right now, though we suspect he is just waiting for lunch. The buttons gleam, the wrinkles are neat, and his mood is dignified and snuffly. A duke of such charm is welcome anywhere.
