The Devon Rex Duke Wore Velvet and Hid a Mischievous Grin

AI imagedevon rexdukebaroque portrait

The duke has enormous ears, huge round eyes, and a coat of fine, wavy grey fur. This grey Devon Rex wears a deep green velvet coat with round gold buttons, gold trim at the collar, and a frothy lace cravat. A candle burns in the dim background, and the old paint is cracked in a fine web across the canvas. His expression is calm, alert, and just a little mischievous, like someone about to share good news. His narrow chin and wide cheekbones give him an elfin look, and the faint lines of fine fur seem to ripple across his head.

Devon Rex cats are playful, people-focused, and full of energy. Their short, curly coat is soft and fine, with very little shedding, though they still need gentle care because their skin can get oily. Their big ears collect wax, so a vet can show you how to clean them safely. Devons love climbing and perching on shoulders, and they appreciate a warm place to nap. They bond strongly with their families and often follow them from room to room, so make time for daily games.

We suspect the duke is a bit of a clown behind closed doors. Under the velvet and gold, he is probably hoping someone will toss a feather toy. For the moment, though, he remains dignified. Nobody can be quite as elegant and silly as a Devon in a good coat.
