The Cat King Declared That Every Chair Now Belonged to the Crown
The carved throne is a marvel of curls, vines and little scrolls, and the white cat king sits in it as though he has never sat anywhere else. A small gold crown with red stones sits between his ears, a white ermine collar with black spots drapes over his shoulders, and a teal and gold robe falls across the arm of the chair. One paw rests on the armrest, white and neat. Behind him, a Renaissance landscape of towers, rivers and misty hills fills the open air.
Cats are famous for choosing the best seat in the house, and there is a good reason. Cats feel secure when they can see the room from a comfortable, raised place, and they are drawn to warm spots where they can conserve energy. A cozy bed near a sunny window, a heated pad if your vet agrees, and a high perch are all easy ways to give a cat his own throne. Cats sleep many hours a day, and a quiet, protected resting place helps them relax. Rotating the position of a bed or adding a blanket that smells like you can make it more inviting. Clean bedding regularly, and watch for changes in sleeping habits that might be worth a vet visit.
The king has declared that this chair, and the one next to it, and the sofa, now belong to the crown.
