The Baron Held Up His Pocket Watch and Frowned. It Was Almost Dinner.
The baron is exactly on time, and he would like to point that out. A cream Exotic Shorthair cat looks out with round golden eyes beneath a flat, grumpy-sweet face, his plush fur pale against a dark navy velvet coat heavy with gold embroidery. A frilled lace cravat and a ruffle of lace at his cuff finish the look, and in one soft white paw he holds up a small gold pocket watch. A candle burns in the dim distance behind him, and the old paint is lightly cracked all over.
Exotic Shorthairs are calm, gentle cats, often described as a short-haired version of the Persian. They are happy to nap beside their people, and they enjoy short bursts of play. Their short plush coat needs less care than a long one, but a weekly brushing still helps. Because of their flat faces, they can have watery eyes, so a soft damp cloth helps keep them clean. Avoid hot rooms, and talk to your vet about any breathing, eye, or weight concerns.
The watch is lovely, but it hardly seems necessary, since a cat like this always knows when dinner is due. He holds it with the serious gaze of a man who is never late and never in a hurry. The baron's schedule is busy: nap, snack, watch, nap.
