The Yorkie Poet Finished a Line and Waited for the Applause
A fine blue and tan Yorkie with silky hair tied up neatly gazes out with sharp, curious eyes. He wears a deep green velvet coat with gold trim down the front and a white lace cravat at the neck, and in his paws he holds a small brown book of verse. The background is dark and moody, with a faint column behind him. Poet Percy looks as though he has just finished the most beautiful line ever written and is waiting for applause, or at least a biscuit.
Yorkshire Terriers may look delicate, but they began as working terriers hunting rats in English mills, and they still have a bold, determined streak. They are smart and affectionate, and they often bark to announce visitors, so gentle training helps. Their hair grows long and silky like human hair, so brush daily or keep it trimmed to avoid tangles. Because Yorkies are small, they chill easily and can be hurt by rough play or a fall from a couch. Dental care is especially important, so ask your vet about brushing. They are happiest close to their people.
A poet needs only a quiet corner and a good book, and this one has found both. The next verse is on its way, probably about snacks. If the ink runs dry, the poet can always rely on a good nap for inspiration.
