Two Sable Pups Sat Down in the Daisies Like They'd Been Told to Pose
Sitting side by side like they were told to pose, two sable German Shepherd puppies hold perfectly still in a backyard lawn sprinkled with tiny white daisies. Their coats are wonderfully scruffy, a mix of black-tipped fur over warm tan, with fluffy tufts sticking up on their heads and around their ears. The pup on the left has both ears tipped forward and a solemn, thoughtful gaze, while his partner tilts slightly, one ear half up, studying something in the distance. Behind them stand a weathered wooden fence, potted plants, and a gray house basking in soft daylight.
Sable is one of the classic German Shepherd colors, and it is a little different from the familiar saddle pattern. In a sable dog, individual hairs are banded, with darker tips over a lighter base, giving the coat a shaded, wolfish look. Sable puppies often look darker when young and can change considerably as they mature, so the adult coat may surprise you. Their fluffy fur also hints at a double coat, which German Shepherds are known for. That double coat sheds year round and more heavily a couple of times a year, so regular brushing is a must, and starting the habit young makes grooming easy later.
Lawns full of daisies are a lovely place for a puppy photo shoot, but check that the yard is free of pesticides or fertilizers before letting little ones roam and sniff.
These two seem to understand the assignment completely. Sit, look adorable, repeat.
