Between the maple-leaf pillows, the Canadian flag magnets, and at least one Union Jack in the background, this household leaves no doubt about where its loyalties lie. The pets are just as committed to the bit: a litter of small tan puppies takes over the kitchen floor early on, and a pair of grey British Shorthair cats show up again and again looking entirely too dignified for the chaos around them.
The best pairing in the set comes near the end, the toddler holding a baby bottle on the couch while both grey cats lean in and try to take it from him at the same time, one paw after another, completely undeterred by his laughter. It's a good match for an earlier kitchen scene where one of the cats climbs the counter while a chihuahua sits below staring straight up, both waiting for the same thing to happen.
Trouble shows up too, on schedule. A kitchen floor gets buried in shredded tissue paper with a chihuahua standing in the middle of it, eyes wide, radiating obvious guilt. A living room lizard encounter brings the cat and dog together for a joint investigation on a patterned rug, and out at the park, the same chihuahua gets a solo scene chasing nothing in particular across the grass while a squirrel watches from a safe distance.
By the last clip, even the chihuahua has calmed down enough to simply watch the cats from a respectful distance. One of the cats also gets a brief solo scene knocking a small figurine off a bookshelf before tumbling dramatically onto the rug below, seemingly pleased with itself. The quieter clips round it out: a nighttime crib scene with a cat curled up nearby, and later, a chihuahua doing the same duty from the floor of a different room.
