Grandpa Was Fixing the Old Fence. Jasper Brought His Own Supplies.
The old wooden fence has a few loose boards, and Grandpa is on the job. Crouched low in a green cable-knit cardigan and glasses, he grips a pair of pliers and works carefully at a stubborn nail. Behind him, a garden path winds past potted plants, a blue watering can, and a scattering of tools. Sitting right beside the fence, as if reporting for duty, is Jasper the Bengal, a small twig clamped firmly in his mouth and his green eyes fixed straight ahead. Clearly, he has brought his own supplies.
Bengals are often described as dog-like in some of their behaviors. Many enjoy carrying objects around, playing fetch, and following their people from task to task. Their intelligence and energy mean they thrive on interaction and new experiences. Outdoor time should always be supervised, ideally with a well-fitted harness and leash or inside an enclosed area, because Bengals can be quick and adventurous. During repair projects, keep nails, screws, and sharp tools out of paw's reach, and make sure no small hardware is left in the grass. Giving a Bengal a job, even a pretend one like carrying a toy, can be a wonderful way to channel that busy mind.
Every handyman needs a reliable assistant. Jasper may not know much about nails or hinges, but his dedication is unquestionable, and he never once complains about the work.
