Grandpa Set Out Two Lawn Chairs for the Sunset. His Guest Took Hers Very Seriously.
String lights glow overhead, the sky behind the fence fades from orange to dusky blue, and the backyard settles into a peaceful evening. Grandpa Earl leans back in a green folding lawn chair in shorts and a plaid shirt, suspenders on, smiling contentedly as he looks out over the yard. Right next to him, in a matching chair of her own, sits Peaches. She's perched upright on the woven seat, her pink skin warm in the lamplight and her big ears pointed toward the last streaks of sunset. A mug sits on a small table nearby, and potted plants line the fence along the grass.
Evenings outdoors are a lovely way to share time with a pet, but cooler air matters for a hairless cat. Sphynx cats lose body heat quickly, so once the sun goes down, a blanket on the seat or a soft cat sweater can keep them comfortable. Dusk is also when many cats are naturally most active, which means it's a good time to keep a close eye on them or use a harness, especially in an unfenced yard. Mosquitoes and other biting insects come out at sunset too, and bare skin offers less protection, so ask your vet about safe parasite prevention. Never use insect repellents made for people on cats.
Earl watches the sky change color, and Peaches watches it right alongside him from her own chair, like the proper evening companion she is. Two chairs, two friends, and one perfect sunset.
