Ken Was Halfway Through a Scarf When the Yarn Started Disappearing

Knitting needles click away as Grandpa Ken works on a project in his lap, glasses perched low, wearing a cable-knit sweater vest over a plaid flannel shirt. The yarn, unfortunately, has gone rogue. Long cream strands spill off the couch and loop around Duke's front legs, draping across his paws and chest in a hopeless tangle. Duke lies right beside Ken, gazing up at him with wide, innocent eyes, as if he has no idea how any of this happened. A basket of yarn balls, a mug, a TV remote, a framed family photo, and a potted plant fill the cozy room.

Yarn may look like a harmless toy, but string and thread can be dangerous if a dog chews and swallows them. Long strands can tangle in the intestines and may require emergency care. If you knit or crochet, keep yarn balls in a closed bag or basket when you're not actively working, and watch your dog during crafting time. A sturdy chew toy or a puzzle feeder can give a curious dog something better to focus on. If you suspect your dog has swallowed yarn, don't try to pull it out; contact your vet promptly.

For now, Duke seems more puzzled than mischievous, and Ken seems more amused than annoyed. It'll take a little untangling, but this knitting session will go down as one of their funnier afternoons.
