Clarence Took His First Sip of Coffee. Sapphire Gave Him That Look.
The paint on the old blue front door is chipped, a few dry leaves have blown onto the concrete steps, and the morning air looks cool and soft. Clarence sits low on the steps in a moss-green cardigan, cradling a cream-colored mug just under his nose and breathing in the steam with a slow, contented smile. His eyes are turned toward Sapphire, who sits upright on the step beside him. She looks back toward the camera with round, icy-blue eyes and a faintly skeptical expression, ears tilted, as though she is wondering why anyone needs coffee when there is a perfectly good porch to sit on.
Siamese cats are often described as some of the most expressive cats around. Their faces, voices, and body language tend to make their opinions very clear, and many owners swear their Siamese will answer back in conversation. If you are bringing a cat outside with you, even for a quiet coffee on the steps, safety comes first. Doorways are where many indoor cats slip out, so a harness and leash or a secure screened porch is a good idea. Make sure your cat is microchipped and wearing identification, just in case curiosity wins. And of course, keep that coffee to yourself, since caffeine is not safe for pets.
There is a nice rhythm to a morning like this one. A warm mug, a quiet street, and a companion who does not need to say a word, though Sapphire probably has plenty to say. Clarence looks like he would not change a thing.
