Grandpa Ken Climbed Into His Old Truck. The Passenger Seat Was Already Taken.
The bench seat of Grandpa Ken's old pickup is worn and fuzzy with years of use, and today it has a very regal passenger. Yuki sits squarely on the cushion in the foreground, her silvery coat swirled with dark gray marbling, her ears up, and her blue-violet eyes staring straight ahead with total confidence. Ken leans against the driver's side door in his brown sweater vest and blue plaid shirt, smiling warmly behind his glasses with one hand near the steering wheel. Through the windows, a cluttered garage or workshop is visible, shelves packed with boxes, tools, and odds and ends.
Bengals are often described as bold and adaptable, and some are more comfortable with new experiences than the average cat. Even so, car rides are safest when a cat is in a secure carrier, since a loose cat can get underfoot near the pedals or be thrown in a sudden stop. If you want your cat to grow comfortable with the car, start by letting her explore the parked vehicle with the engine off, offering treats and praise. Short, calm practice sessions can help her learn that the car is not scary. Never leave a cat in a parked vehicle, as the temperature inside can change quickly and become dangerous.
Whether this is a quick trip or just a cozy sit in the garage, Yuki clearly takes her co-pilot duties seriously. And Ken looks like he would not want anyone else riding beside him.
