Grandpa Ken Tossed a Tennis Ball Across the Yard. He Didn't Expect the Cat to Chase It.
Out in the backyard, a bright yellow tennis ball has just bounced across the grass, and the game is on. Grandpa Ken leans forward in his olive V-neck sweater and glasses, reaching out with an open hand and a delighted grin. Yuki is caught in mid-pounce, her long spotted body stretched forward, front paws lifted, ears perked, and blue eyes locked on the ball. Behind them, the yard is a lived-in mix of firewood stacked against the fence, a watering can, potted herbs, garden tools, and autumn leaves scattered over the lawn.
Playing fetch is often thought of as a dog activity, but Bengals are one of the breeds known for picking it up. Their high energy, intelligence, and strong prey drive mean they often enjoy chasing, retrieving, and even learning tricks. Daily active play is important for this breed, since a bored Bengal may find its own entertainment, sometimes by climbing curtains or knocking things off shelves. Small balls, feather wands, and puzzle feeders are great outlets. If your cat plays outdoors, keep it to a secure, supervised area, since curious Bengals can be quick to explore beyond the fence.
Ken might have expected a quiet afternoon in the garden, but Yuki had other plans. With a ball, a grandpa, and a whole yard to run around in, this is just about the best afternoon a Bengal could ask for.
