Grandpa Set the Lace Table for One. Moose Had Other Plans for That Scone.
Teatime in Walt's kitchen comes with a guest who never misses it. The round table is dressed in white lace, set with a china teapot, a cup of milky tea, a small dish of jam, and a golden scone on a saucer. Walt leans in with a soft, crinkly smile, and Moose rests his big black head right at the edge of the table, mouth open in a happy pant, eyes fixed on his grandpa with pure devotion. Wooden cabinets, a potted plant, and folded dish towels fill the cozy kitchen behind them.
Many dogs learn quickly that tea and snacks go together, but not every treat on the table is safe to share. Scones and cookies can be loaded with sugar and butter, and some recipes include raisins or currants, which are known to be dangerous for dogs. Caffeine in tea and coffee is also something to keep away from pets. A better plan is to keep a few plain dog treats in a jar nearby so the begging gets rewarded with something appropriate. If a dog does sneak something questionable, a quick call to your vet is always the safe move.
Moose may not get a bite of scone, but he clearly considers himself part of the tea party anyway. And judging by Walt's grin, the company matters far more to both of them than what is on the plate.
