Grandma Dot Was Down to the Last Few Pieces. Waffles Was Supervising.
The edge pieces are done, the sky is half finished, and Waffles is keeping a close eye on progress. Grandma Dot sits at a worn wooden kitchen table in a gray cardigan and light blue shirt, glasses on, pressing a piece into a landscape puzzle with careful fingers. Loose pieces are scattered across the table, and a white mug waits at the edge. Waffles sits upright on a cushioned chair beside her, ears tall and gaze fixed, looking every bit like the official puzzle inspector. Warm cabinets and a bright window fill the kitchen behind them.
Jigsaw puzzles are a classic way to keep the mind busy, and they pair well with a patient pet nearby. Working on a puzzle is relaxing, and a dog sitting close adds a calm presence without demanding much attention. The one thing to watch is the pieces themselves. Small cardboard pieces can be tempting to a curious dog and can cause trouble if swallowed, so it helps to keep the table out of reach or pick up stray pieces from the floor. A chew toy kept nearby can redirect that curiosity in a safer direction.
Dot hunts for the next piece while Waffles hunts for any sign of a missing one. Between the two of them, nothing at that table goes unnoticed. The mug of something warm beside the board has probably gone cold by now, which is exactly how a good puzzle afternoon is supposed to go. Somewhere on that table sits the last piece, and they will find it together.
