Otis Lay Down on the Lawn for a Rest. Clementine Had the Same Idea.

The grass is warm, the fence is bathed in gold, and Otis has stretched out on the lawn with his folded jacket as a pillow. His green cardigan is buttoned, his eyes are closed, and his face is completely at peace. Clementine has curled up in the crook of his shoulder, calico tail wrapped around her body, white paws tucked in, and her eyes squeezed shut too. A watering can, a few pots, and a leafy flower bed sit in the background. Dappled evening light is moving slowly over both sleepers, and the only motion is a little breeze stirring the blades of grass.

Cats love sunny spots, and a warm lawn is hard to beat. Basking helps them stay comfortable, and many cats seek out a patch of light for their longest naps. Outdoors, though, a cat needs some thought. A fenced yard and a supervised visit keep her away from roads and wandering dogs, and shade should always be available on hot days so she does not overheat. Lawns can also hold fleas, ticks, and treated areas, so it helps to check her coat afterward and avoid places that have recently been sprayed with lawn products. A bowl of fresh water within reach is smart. If she seems tired, panting, or wobbly after time outside, call your vet.

Otis and Clementine have nothing to do for the next hour, and they are making the most of it. If anyone passes by, they will probably walk around quietly.
