Grandpa Hung Out the Sheets. Pepper Treated Them Like a Maze
Walt pins a white sheet to the line with a wooden clothespin, glasses on and a calm smile, while Pepper leaps through the gap between the hanging sheets. The little schnauzer is caught mid-bound, paws tucked, ears flipping, tail up. Dusk is setting in, a lamp glows by the back door, and a potted plant sits on the step. Towels and sheets sway in the evening air in a long row across the yard.
Clotheslines can turn a yard into a playground for a dog who loves to run. Miniature Schnauzers are energetic and playful, and they often find moving fabric irresistible. A few safety notes help: keep clothespins out of reach because they can be chewed or swallowed, make sure low lines are not at neck height for a running dog, and check that the yard is fenced. Fresh laundry may also pick up fur, so a lint roller is handy. After a good romp, give your dog water and a chance to settle. Schnauzers thrive on regular exercise and mental games, so a short, safe run in the yard can be a good way to burn energy before bed.
The sheets will need a second look for paw prints, but Walt does not seem to mind. It is hard to be annoyed when the dog is having the best evening of his week.
