Pip Leaped Between the Sheets While Grandpa Hung the Laundry
White sheets billow from a clothesline strung across the kitchen window, and Grandpa reaches up with a smile to pin another one in place. Pip is caught mid-bound beside a laundry basket, ears flying and legs stretched out, clearly delighted by the flapping cloth. His red plaid flannel and glasses make him look right at home among the linens.
A little toy, a basket of folded clothes, and a pair of slippers lie nearby. The sheet is bright and clean and catches the light, and Pip's leap is unmistakably full of joy.
Hanging laundry is a great chance for a dog to play, but a few cautions apply. Clothespins and small items like socks can be a choking hazard if she chews them, and dryer sheets and detergent are not safe for dogs to eat. A Yorkie's fine coat can pick up lint and static, so a quick brush afterward helps. Make sure the area is free of tripping hazards so neither of you takes a spill. If she seems drawn to chewing fabric, redirect her with a safe toy.
The sheets will dry in the breeze, and Pip's happy leap will be hard to top. It is a small chore made lighter by company. A fresh sheet smells like sunshine, and a dog in motion makes any chore lighter. Soon the last pin will go on, and the whole kitchen will smell of clean cotton and happy dog.
