Seven Ducklings Turned a Sleeping Black Cat Into Their Playground
Patience, thy name is this black cat. Stretched out on her side across a woven jute rug, she lies perfectly still with her eyes half closed while seven yellow ducklings treat her like their personal playground. Two stand right on top of her shoulder and back, one balances on her hip, and others hop along her belly and paws. Not a single whisker twitches in protest. A metal food bowl sits nearby, a gray knit blanket is crumpled at the rug's edge, and a pair of slippers, a wooden table, and a basket of laundry fill out the cozy room.
Black cats have long been surrounded by folklore, considered unlucky in some traditions and lucky in others. In reality, coat color says very little about personality, and black cats can be every bit as affectionate, playful, or mellow as any other. Some shelters notice black cats waiting longer for homes, so they're often highlighted during adoption events. Whatever their color, cats that tolerate this much climbing are showing remarkable trust and calm. Still, it's wise to remember that cats communicate discomfort subtly, through a flicking tail, flattened ears, or skin twitching along the back. If those appear, it's time for the little climbers to move along.
This black cat seems to have reached a state of total zen. She's the mattress, the mountain, and the warm spot all at once, and judging by her expression, she wouldn't have it any other way.
