Morning Came, and Nobody Under This Quilt Was Ready to Get Up
Morning has arrived, but nobody under this quilt is ready to get up. A silver long-haired cat with a lush ruff and wide green eyes peeks out from a nest of rumpled white bedding, looking slightly startled to be awake. Tucked right beside her chest, seven yellow ducklings blink sleepily, their bills resting on each other's backs as they slowly come to. The quilt has been pulled into soft folds around them, and the room beyond shows the comfortable chaos of a lived-in morning: a heap of sweaters, a pair of headphones, a mug on the nightstand, and a little potted plant.
The Norwegian Forest Cat is a natural fit for a cozy scene like this. The breed developed in the cold climate of Scandinavia and is known for a thick, water-resistant double coat, a full neck ruff, and a long, bushy tail. These cats are typically described as friendly, calm, and good climbers, often enjoying high perches. Their coats do shed seasonally, sometimes heavily in spring, so regular brushing helps prevent mats and keeps loose fur off the furniture. They mature slowly and may not reach full size until several years of age. Plenty of climbing space and interactive play suit their active minds.
Five more minutes, the silver cat seems to say, and the ducklings agree wholeheartedly. Some mornings are simply meant for staying under the covers a little longer.
