The Frenchie Waddled Up the Path at Dusk, Following a Very Small Leader

Follow the leader, evening edition. A white lamb trots confidently up a gravel driveway toward a stone house where a porch lamp is just flickering on, and right behind it waddles a fawn French Bulldog in a brown collar, curly little tail and all. Seen from behind, the Frenchie's sturdy body and bat ears make him look like a determined little chaperone. Potted plants line the path, a welcome mat waits by the door, and the blue twilight sky suggests it is almost time for everyone to head inside.

French Bulldogs are compact, muscular, and usually very affectionate, with a reputation for being comedians in dog form. They do not need marathon exercise, and a couple of easy walks a day typically keeps them happy. Evening strolls are a great choice in warm weather, since Frenchies can struggle in the heat. If you walk your dog at dusk, a reflective collar or a small clip-on light makes your pet much easier for drivers and cyclists to see. Also note that most French Bulldogs are poor swimmers because of their heavy front ends, so pools and ponds call for close supervision or a dog life jacket.

Tonight, the only route is the short gravel path home, and the lamb seems to know the way. The Frenchie is happy to bring up the rear, making sure his woolly friend gets back safe and sound before the stars come out.
