Rain Moved the Day's Adventures Indoors. Two Friends Ended Up at the Window.
Rain streaks down the windowpane and blurs the trees outside, so the day's adventures have moved indoors. A red and white Border Collie rests its chin near the sill, warm brown eyes half-lidded and thoughtful. Tucked beside it, a fluffy white baby goat with tiny horns leans in close, nose pointed toward the dog's chest as though sharing a quiet secret. The cozy, rustic room behind them holds a basket, a blue knit throw, rubber boots, and potted plants, all softened by the grey rainy-day light.
Border Collies are often considered among the most intelligent dog breeds. Bred in the border region between Scotland and England to herd sheep, they have an intense focus and a natural instinct to gather and guide other animals. Around goats, that instinct can show up as staring, circling, or gentle nudging, which is generally harmless but should be supervised so it doesn't stress the goat. On rainy days when outdoor work is off the table, Border Collies need indoor outlets for their busy minds, such as training sessions, puzzle toys, and scent games. Without enough stimulation, they may get restless or invent their own projects.
For now, both seem content to just watch the weather together. Rainy afternoons are always better with a friend by your side and a dry spot by the window.
