Frost on the Window, Snow on the Roofs, and a Ragdoll Surrounded by Sunshine
Outside, the window is laced with feathery frost and the rooftops beyond are buried in snow. Inside, a cream point Ragdoll with soft blue eyes and a fluffy bib sits on a knit blanket by the sill, and gathered all around her are six bright yellow ducklings, some gazing out at the winter scene, others looking up at their big furry companion. The Ragdoll's expression is calm and a touch wistful. A wicker basket, a sweater, a houseplant, and scattered odds and ends fill the cozy room behind them.
Ragdolls are large, semi-longhaired cats famous for their gentle, easygoing temperament. The breed name comes from the tendency of many Ragdolls to relax and go limp when picked up. They are often described as dog-like because they may follow their owners around and greet them at the door. Ragdolls mature slowly and can take a few years to reach full size. Their silky coat has less undercoat than some longhaired breeds, so it tends to mat less, but regular brushing still helps. They are generally best suited to indoor life, where they are safe from traffic and predators.
On a frosty day like this, indoor life looks especially appealing. The ducklings have the warmth of the house and the company of a very patient cat, and the Ragdoll has a front-row seat to the snow. Winter does not seem so bad from here.
