Two Small Friends Climbed Up on the Old Tractor Seat
Two small friends have climbed onto the cracked black seat of an old green tractor. A blue and tan Yorkshire Terrier perches at the edge with her silky ears perked, and right beside her, a little pink piglet rests her snout against the Yorkie's shoulder. The shed behind them is cluttered with baskets, boots, and a tool jacket, and the light has a worn, dusty glow. It looks like they have settled in for a good long ride that goes nowhere. Rust spots dot the green paint, and the seat springs have long since given up, but neither passenger seems to mind.
Yorkshire Terriers are tiny dogs with big personalities. They are alert, loyal, and often braver than their size suggests, and they love to be near their people and companions. Because they are so small, they need supervision around bigger animals and around machinery, since tractors and workshop tools can be dangerous for pets. A shed should be kept free of loose parts, oil, and chemicals that could harm a curious animal, and a dog should never be left on or near running equipment. Talk to your vet about keeping a small dog safe on a farm.
The tractor is parked and the engine is quiet, so the two have the seat to themselves. Penny looks very content, and the Yorkie has a proud little air. On this farm, even the smallest riders get a seat. There is no destination, only the pleasure of the ride.
